Phase III SBIRs/STTRs

Over the past 25 years, CRG Defense has successfully executed hundreds of Phase I and Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding agreements for our DoD customers including Air Force, Army, DARPA, DHA, DTRA, MDA, Navy, and SOCOM in addition to other government agencies such as DHS, DOE, NASA, NIH, and NSF.

A key feature of the SBIR/STTR program is that any Federal agency may issue CRG Defense a Phase III contract for work that derives from, extends or completes an effort made under one of our prior SBIR/STTR funding agreements. In addition, the SBIR/STTR program permits sole-source Phase III awards since competition requirements were satisfied under our prior Phase I or II awards.

Through its SBIR/STTR programs, CRG Defense’s team has developed extensive R&D, prototyping, and production capabilities across a wide range of technology areas including Aerospace Systems, Advanced Materials, Electromagnetics, Power and Energy, Medical Devices, and Sensors. CRG Defense has successfully transitioned many of these SBIR-developed technologies and capabilities to other government and commercial customers through both SBIR and non-SBIR contract types.

IDIQs

CRG Defense is a prime contractor on multiple Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicles for rapid response supporting our U.S. government and defense customers. These contract vehicles can also be leveraged for Phase III follow-on activities that derive from, extend, or complete one of our many prior Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding agreements.

Mobility Platform Prototyping (MPP)
The contract includes design, development, engineering, fabrication, and test of prototype components and systems for United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Family of Special Operations Vehicles (FOSOV) and US Marine Corps (USMC) vehicles and mobility platforms such as: Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV), Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP), Light All-Terrain Vehicle (LTATV), Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), Non-Standard Commercial Vehicle (NSCV), trailers, auxiliary power systems, and any system that contributes to operational safety, logistics, maintenance, lethality, mobility, reliability, durability, availability, overall mobility range, suitability and effectiveness of the warfighter.

NSWC Crane, Mobility Systems Engineering Branch (JXWS) provides project oversight, engineering, and logistics for PM-FOSOV and US Marine Corps (USMC) mobility platforms across the life cycle, from conceptual design development to engineering field support. JXWS Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) shall utilize this 5-year, multi-award contract (MAC) to develop prototype solutions in the following four technology areas:

  • Powertrain performance prototyping
  • Advanced chassis, body and mobility handling prototyping
  • Mobility testing services
  • General prototype fabrication and integration

CRG Defense is one of only four companies selected and eligible to compete across all four technology areas.

Power Systems SBIR III
The scope of Task Orders executed under this IDIQ may include activity involving all component, subsystem, and system-level development, characterization, modeling, testing, evaluation, analysis, engineering, fabrication, production, and sustainment of advanced power systems for directed energy (DE), man portable, aircraft, ground vehicle, maritime, space and missile, stationary, and expeditionary applications.

The overall objective of this effort is to deliver advanced power system capability for the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DOE), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This vehicle is administered by GSA FEDSIM and includes the following sub-objectives:

  • Conduct research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E) of new technologies relevant to the scope
  • Scale up and produce new technologies and products leveraging those technologies relevant to the scope
  • Secure the sustainability and supply chain of technologies and products relevant to the scope.
