MoTES: Modular Total Environmental Sensor
MoTES is a wearable sensing platform that provides real-time detection of airborne hazards, chemical and radiological threats, and environmental exposure conditions. Designed for modular integration, MoTES can be worn or integrated with manned and unmanned systems. A modular, mission-ready sensing platform, MoTES fuses multiple detection capabilities into a compact, configurable system – delivering real-time awareness of acute environmental and operational hazards across personnel.
Built for Changing Threat Environments
Today’s missions require more than a single-purpose detector. Teams operate in fast-changing environments where airborne hazards and emerging threats can appear without warning.
Developed by CRG Defense, MoTES (Modular Total Environmental Sensor) is a compact sensing platform designed to provide real-time awareness of operational and environmental hazards across personnel, vehicles, and unmanned systems.
MoTES combines multiple sensor types, long battery life, wireless communication, and flexible architecture in a lightweight system built for field use. The platform is designed to support both today’s sensing needs and future threat-detection technologies as they become available.

Designed to Grow with the Mission
Most portable detectors are built around fixed sensor packages with limited upgrade paths. MoTES was designed to adapt.

MoTES’ modular architecture allows new sensors to be added without redesigning the full system. As better or lower-maintenance sensors become available, they can be integrated quickly through plug-and-play sensor modules. This approach helps reduce sustainment burden while extending the useful life of the platform.
Lightweight and Mission Ready
MoTES is designed for use across dismounted, mounted, and unmanned operations.
Form Factor Advantages:
- ~ 1 lb total weight
- 12+ hours of battery life
- Wearable or body-mounted configurations
- Vehicle integration capability
- Small UAS payload compatibility
Its compact design allows sensing coverage to be distributed across larger operational areas without adding significant burden to personnel.
Multi-Threat Sensing in One System
MoTES is designed to monitor multiple airborne hazards at the same time, providing a broader picture of operational conditions than traditional single-purpose detectors.
